School Start 2022-2023!
It's time for kick off!
We are off to a lively and enriching start of term, where we have strengthened our focus on team building. This has allowed our staff and students the opportunity to get to know each other well and to establish solid routines early. We have been fortunate with good weather and have taken full advantage of our exceptional luck!
On Friday of week 33 we hosted our second annual House Clash, where students in grades F-9 represented their houses by competing in various field day activities. We then allowed ourselves time to settle during week 34 where students began following their regular timetable, thus allowing them time to meet their various subject teachers and go through their Fall term syllabi. To commemorate the official start of term our Primary School students participated in a Welcome Ceremony on Monday on week 34. On Thursday and Friday of week 34 our year 5 students went to Vidablick for an outdoor adventure where they canooed and climbed. During Week 35 our year 8 and 9 students participated in two careers days where they had visitors from JU and Husqvarna speak to them, and where they worked on preparing for their future studies and careers by writing CV’s and researching various professions. During the same week our year 8 students took a two day camping trip to Habo where they ziplined, swam and stayed active in the great outdoors, and our Year 9 students took a two day camping trip to Stockholm where they explored the city sites and visited the Vasa Museum. Week 35 was also an active and amusing time for our year 7 students, each class visited X-Flow, Prison Island, a local Pizzeria, an obstacle course and the beach. Problem solving and trust were the themes of our Year 7 activity week, this to bring some joy after they spent their mornings taking valuable diagnostic tests. On Monday of week 36 our Social Science department will be hosting a mock school election for our year 7-9 students, this as part of their learning tied to our upcoming National election. Week 36 also rounds off our team building activities for the start of term, and is the week where our year 6 students will be away on their camping trips.
We thank all of our staff and students for the merry adventures that we’ve had and will have to kick off the year, and thank our parents for their support in our endeavours.
We look forward to seeing all of our parents soon with our various Parent evenings running from weeks 36 to 39. And finally with our outdoor adventure time soon coming to a close we are especially eager for learning and fun in the classroom to commence!
