Principal's Letter April 2023

Two thirds of the term is completed!

Now we have completed a third of the spring term. An old school tale says that what is not done before Easter will remain undone. We will disprove that. Our students have worked well and it is fun to see how much they learn, no matter their year group. Our students really deserve a break now and I wish all of you a great sports break. When the students return, rested and full of energy, we together with you have to ensure that they continue working well and reach their grade goals at the end of the term. We have many fun activities left, for example our year 5 students will soon go to Kolmådern, students in year 9 are looking forward to their trip to Stockholm, and we will soon have an all school athletics day.

Ramadan is ongoing. This is a time when you as a muslim turn your attention to fasting, prayer, reflection and community. For many of our students and their families Ramadan is an important time of the year and in their lives. As a school we are aware and respectful of Ramadan. During this time a person who is fasting can be perceived as having less energy and stamina. We ask that you as parents support the students so that they despite the fasting can perform in all the subjects in school. If you as parents have questions I want you to contact us at school.

Gymnasium choice

Our students in year 9 have during the start of the term done their preliminary gymnasium choice. In the middle of April they will get the preliminary result. Between the 15th of April and 3rd of May the re-choice period opens. If you have any questions or concerns connected to the gymnasium choice I want you to contact our SYV Ms Fia Strachal.

National Tests

This term it is time for the written parts of the national tests for Year 6 and 9 students in Swedish, English, Maths, SO and Science. On our website there is a link to all the dates for the national tests and an information letter to guardians from skolverket. As usual we will not grant leave requests during the national tests for year 6 and 9.

Leave of absence

During the school year a lot of leave requests are handed in. Very often for a full week. I know there are a lot of reasons to take time off during other points in time than the breaks, but I want you as a parent to really consider what is best for your child. If your child is away for a week they will miss a week's worth of school work and potential tests, presentations and other things that cannot be covered later. If you are considering a longer period of leave I want you to contact me.

After School Clubs 

Our Clubs are still running and our students have the opportunity to partake in many different activities outside of normal school hours.The clubs running currently are Pokemon Club, Film Club, Drama Club, Basketclub, Bookclub, Art Club, Fitness Club, Gaming Club, and Volleyball Club.  This is something that is greatly appreciated by our students.

Dates spring term 2023

6th of April, In-service day

31st of May, Half In-service day, students will end around 11:30

8th of June, Half In-service day, students will end around 11:30

15th June, End of term and Graduation. This will take place at our school for all year groups. Times will be announced in April. 

Dates school year 23/24

Autumn Term  2023, 16th of August - 20th of December.

Spring Term 2024, 9th of January - 13th of August.
