Welcome to IES Södra Änggården

IES Södra Änggården, formerly known as IES Krokslätt, is a school for students from preschool class (F) to year 7. The school opened its doors for the first time in August 2024 and by 2026 it will have grown to F-9 with about 900 students, including fritids provision and three classes per year group.

YEAR GROUPS: F-9

NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 900

IES Södra Änggården has modern facilities, including an on-site kitchen, a well-designed schoolyard and a sports hall. The building itself is spectacular with a large rooftop area with space for activities, play and socialising. The school is environmentally certified and connects the city with Änggårdsbergen’s nature areas right next door. It is carefully positioned in the terrain to match the different ground levels, and the proximity to nature encourages play and the joy of exploring.

We believe every child can succeed, whatever their background and so we support every student to reach their full potential.

We believe that by showing basic respect for each other and ourselves, we lay the foundation for safe and stimulating schooling, and prepare students for higher education, working life and society.

We teach using the Swedish national curriculum and up to half the education in our school is delivered through the English language by qualified teachers from English-speaking countries including Canada, the USA, and the UK.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Welcome from the principal

Greetings from our principal, who sets out how we create a safe, calm environment in a school where teachers can teach and students learn.

What's going on in our school?

"The thing that differentiates this school is the respect between the teachers and students, and that there are high demands and expectations on all students. Teachers are allowed to focus on their task of teaching and there are other functions to help the students socially. Having experienced leaders that really support their staff is also good. We teachers receive a lot of positive feedback from leadership. It helps in generating a good atmosphere."

Helena Arango

Teacher Swedish and SO, IES Kista

"I like it so much that I’ve been here for 17 years now, and I feel no need to move. I teach Swedish for 50 per cent of my time nowadays and work as a mentor to new teachers for the rest of the time. It is important to convey our fundamental principles so that all lessons follow the same structure. This includes things like students having to stand two-by-two outside the classroom and that lessons must be well planned with defined goals for the lesson that are written up on the board."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find the answer to your question

Apply in just three steps:

  1. Click Join the Queue.
  2. Choose the school you want to apply for (Every school has its own queue. You can place your child in the queue from 1 February the year after they were born).
  3. Fill in the form including your details and those of your child so that we can stay in touch and let you know if a place becomes available.

Most of our schools begin their intake for the following academic year in the autumn term. The length of the process depends on how quickly we hear back from families who are offered places.

Write to the school in question and let them know your queue ID number or personnummer and the information that you would like to change. You can find contact details for our schools here.

There are no fees to attend IES schools. Our schools are funded in the same way as those run by the municipality, through the Swedish tax system and the school voucher (skolpeng).
