Welcome from the Principal

As Principal of IES Falun, I would like to extend a warm welcome and invite you to our vibrant school! This upcoming 2025/2025 academic school year, we are celebrating our 10th birthday as a school!

My name is Ms. Browall and I have been the principal of the Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) in Falun since 2022. I have been working in education for 25 years and as a Principal for nearly 20 of those years. At University, I studied behavioural science, psychology, and pedagogy and I also have also completed the Rektorsprogram which includes training in law, leadership, and performance management.

Our community within school is filled with caring and talented educators committed to nurturing, inspiring, and challenging each student at this important stage of development.  The international environment with staff and students from different countries and cultures all over the world gives different perspectives of cultures and this creates an understanding that the world is bigger than Falun and Sweden. With this we offer a bilingual education, in Swedish and English.

Routines are important at our school. They create order and structure but also security and a calm environment for studying. It is crucial for us that our students feel safe, respected, and harmonious. Our staff is dedicated to creating an environment that fosters personal development and self-confidence. To achieve this, everyone - students, parents, and staff - must show each other respect and strictly adhere to the school's values, policies, rules and guidelines. With us, it is equally important to balance both rights and responsibilities.

These values are linked to the IES ethos: A Safe and Orderly School Environment, Command of the English language and High Academic Expectations and Aspirations.

We focus on important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging. Therefore, I expect parents, students and staff to do their utmost to achieve this on a daily basis.
