Teacher in focus
Meet the dedicated student support team ensuring a safe environment.
At IES Solna, we are fortunate to have such a dedicated team of teachers. To celebrate our staff, we began publishing a series of articles titled "Teacher in Focus". See the recent articles about Ms Embretsen and Mr Scagell. This month we would like to tell you about our excellent student support team.
The student support team is made up of school counsellors, social pedagogues, the special education team, the study and career advisor (SYV), and the school nurses. Overseeing these teams are Ms Kadric, assistant principal, Ms De-jong, student care coordinator, and Ms Nesemann, assistant principal.
The school counsellors, Ms Bond and Ms Swiecicka-Williams, are available to support and promote students' mental well-being. Students and staff are encouraged to reach out to the counsellors to discuss any student-related concerns.
In our student support team, the social pedagogues are an integral part of maintaining a safe and calm environment here at IES Solna. Their role extends beyond addressing immediate disruptions; they are dedicated to supporting students' social and emotional well-being and fostering positive behaviour throughout the school. Each social pedagogue is typically responsible for specific grades or classes.
Our two school nurses are Ms Ezelius and Ms Varmström. They are a crucial part of the student support team, responsible for monitoring students' physical and psychological development with a focus on preventative factors.
The special educational needs (SEN) department is run by two special pedagogues, Ms von Rosen and Ms Galanopoulou, and a special educational teacher, Ms Lapos. The SEN department helps students with a variety of educational needs, working closely with teachers to help deliver the best possible education.
Ms Wiberg is our study and career advisor (SYV). Ms Wiberg supports students with educational choices, future career paths, and personal development. Having joined IES Solna at the beginning of the academic year, Ms Wiberg provides expert guidance on course selection and higher education options
