Questions about how to apply, what happens next, and how we conduct our intake

Apply in just three steps:

  1. Click Join the Queue.
  2. The link goes directly to IES Södertälje application form. Every school IES school has its own queue. You can place your child in the queue from 1 February the year after they were born.
  3. Fill in the form including your details and those of your child so that we can stay in touch and let you know if a place becomes available.

You can only apply via our homepage if your child has a Swedish social security number (personnummer). If your child does not one, contact us via info.sodertalje@engelska.se and we will help you.

Because of the way that we are funded we are only able to offer education to students registered as living in Sweden. You can apply for a place for any student who has a Swedish national identity number (personnummer), even if they have not yet moved back to Sweden.

If you do not yet have a Swedish national identity number but are moving to Sweden and would like to apply, please contact us via info.sodertalje@engelska.se.

Our queue runs on a first-come, first-served basis, in the interests of fairness for all. However, if your child has a sibling who currently attends the school, and if both of your children will be students at the school at the same time, then they may be entitled to advanced placement in the queue (syskonförtur). In this case please write the sibling’s Swedish ID number in the appropriate box when applying for any other children.

A number of IES schools are registered at Skolinspektionen for a possibility to dedicate a limited number of places in the queue for students who have been resident in the country for less than two years, in Swedish called "särskild kvot" which is regulated in förordning (2022:222) om särskild kvot i fristående skolor. These schools have the possibility to prioritize newly arrived students in the queue. Enrolling in the school depends on the available free spots in each year group. Please contact the school you are applying to for more information and to ask if they are registered for this possibility.

We usually start our intake process for the following academic year in the autumn term the year before. The length of the process depends on how quickly we hear back from families who are offered places.

If a student leaves school during the school year we will offer this place to the next person in the queue, this could happen at any time.

We understand that you would like to know as early as possible whether your child has a place. However, it is difficult to give a precise answer before the school completes the intake process. We offer places based on the date on which students joined the queue, but also consider whether they will have a sibling in the school at the same time (syskonförtur).

If you are offered a place and decline it, then you will lose your queue position and the place will be offered to the next student in line. If you later decide you would like a place, then you will need to apply again.

Note! If you have received an offer of a place for Autumn Term 2022 you will get the choice to move your application to another term.

Contact us via info.sodertalje@engelska.se and let us know your child's ID number (personnummer) or Queue ID (is found in the confirmation you received when you applied) and the information of the changes you would like to make.

Each school has its own queue, and it is not possible to move between them. However, it is possible to join the queue for more than one school at the same time.

On our website you can find all the schools we run, or those we have committed to open. If you are interested in a school we have not yet opened, please email info@engelska.se and ask to have your email address added to the list of people who would like to be informed if we announce a school in that location in the future.

There is no exam or test for your child to pass if they would like to learn at an IES school. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
