Our Commitment to Fundamental Values (Grundläggande värden)

At our school, the Grundläggande värden—democracy, human rights, equality, and respect for each individual—are not just words in a document. They are the foundation of everything we do, guiding our teaching, our relationships, and the way we shape our school environment.

A Nurturing Environment for all

Our school is designed to foster a sense of belonging and support for every level. Our Year 4 and 5 students have their own dedicated floor, creating a safe space where they can build a strong sense of community and identity. The Year 4 and 5 Mentor teams have their office on the same floor, ensuring a high level of support and guidance throughout the day.

Individualised Learning and Support

Every class at IES Nacka has two dedicated mentors who provide daily care and support. Additionally, a Head of Year oversees the mentors for each grade level. The teams meets weekly to collaborate on the best ways to support each student.

Our Student Care Team also works closely with students and staff, ensuring everyone feels heard and supported and safe.

We are committed to providing personalized attention to each student. All practical subjects are taught in half-classes of 15-16 students with the exception of PE. This allows our teachers to focus on individual students and their unique needs. Our dedicated subject rooms for Art, Music, and Science, Textiles, Woodcraft and Home Economics along with two PE halls, provide students with the perfect spaces to explore their passions. We also have a well stocked school Library with dedicated staff who work closely with subject teachers to develop literacy.

Wholesome and Healthy

We believe that a healthy body supports a healthy mind. Our students and staff enjoy a fresh and delicious lunch every day, prepared and cooked on-site by our talented chefs and kitchen staff. Each day students and staff are provided with a variety of dishes to choose from as well as a well stocked salad selection. You can find out more about this amazing feature of IES Nacka in the Kitchen section.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Welcome from the principal

Welcome to IES Nacka, a place where learning and character grow side by side.
Here, education means more than good grades. Guided by the Swedish curriculum (Lgr22), we help our students develop empathy, integrity, and a sense of responsibility. Every child is encouraged to think for themselves, care for others, and contribute to our school community.

Together with families, we create a safe, respectful, and democratic environment where every student feels valued and ready to shape a brighter future.
Warmly,
Donald Christian
Principal, IES Nacka

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find the answer to your question

Apply in just three steps:

  1. Click Join the Queue.
  2. Choose the school you want to apply for (Every school has its own queue.) You can place your child in the queue from 1 February the year after they were born.
  3. Fill in the form including your details and those of your child so that we can stay in touch and let you know if a place becomes available.
  4. You will get an e-mail with login details. Make sure to save this, as you will need it later on.

IES Nacka begins the admissions process in October,  for the following academic year. The length of the process depends on how quickly we hear back from families who are offered places. We will continually send out offers until all the places are filled.

We only admit a full class (total of 150 students) for year 4. For the older year levels (5-9), we can only offer individual places if a student decides to leave our school (leaving an open slot).

We know that everyone would like to know as fast as possible if they get offered a place, but we cannot answer questions about the likelihood of admission or place in the queue.

You can log in to your application using the login details from your confirmation e-mail. However, some things need to be changed by the school. Write to the school in question (info.nacka@engelska.se) and let us know your queue ID number and the child's name, and the information that you would like to change.

We understand that you would like to know as early as possible whether your child will be offered a place at the school. However, it is difficult to give a precise answer before the school completes the intake process.

We offer places based on the date on which students joined the queue, but also consider whether they will have a sibling in the school at the same time (syskonförtur).

We will give regular updates on the admission process on our website, and we will post the queue dates for the students to be offered placements.
