The benefits of reading out loud to students
At IES Liljeholmen, we decided to kick off the Reading Club in the library with our librarian Ms. Roselli, all in the name of preparing our students for success – and maybe a few plot twists along the way!

Now, let's get down to business. Reading aloud to our students, regardless of their age, is like giving them a secret decoder ring to unlock a treasure trove of benefits. You know, it's like the cheat code for understanding material that might otherwise leave them scratching their heads, especially when it comes to those tongue-twisting words and the whole "who's next" saga. In simple terms, it's like turning a light bulb on over their heads - comprehension made easy-peasy.
But that's not all! When we read books aloud, we're not just filling their ears with stories; we're also sprinkling their minds with shiny new words in a completely natural way. It's like adding sprinkles to an ice cream cone, a simple yet effective way to make their vocabulary grow, and suddenly, they're communicating like pros.
Now, reading aloud isn't just about sounding smart. It's also about feeling good. It's like a spa day for the brain, reducing stress, and giving their mood a lift that even a rollercoaster would envy. Plus, when the whole gang tunes in for storytime, it's like they're sharing a giant bowl of popcorn - it brings everyone together, creating a cozy, classroom camaraderie.
But wait, there's more! Being a top-notch reader isn't just a school thing; it's a life thing. Studies show that reading whizzes tend to rock it in the real world too. By reading aloud with all the enthusiasm and emotion you can muster, you're basically handing them a ticket to the reading rollercoaster, setting them on a lifelong path filled with page-turning adventures, and stacking the deck in favor of success, both in their studies and their personal lives.
So, grab your favorite book, find a comfy chair, and let's embark on this literary journey together here in the library! 📚💫
OBS! The Reading Club is aimed for 4th and 5th graders students but everyone is more than welcome to join! It takes place in the library every Thursday at 14.40 till 15.40.
