"Being able to talk to teachers outside of class was great"

We spoke with former IES student Hailey Buhre about her best memories from her school days at IES Kista and what she is doing today.

Hailey Buhre graduated from ninth grade in 2020. Today she is 18 years old and studies at Täby Enskilda Gymnasium.

What have you been doing since you graduated from IES Kista?
"I have been studying at Täby Enskilda Gymnasium and I am now in my third year there."

Looking back, what do you value most from your time at IES?
"I loved having connections to teachers. Being able to talk to teachers outside of class about stuff that was not class-related was great. I fondly remember after-school clubs and when I wanted to start a Harry Potter club and needed a teacher’s permission, I knew exactly who to talk to since we had a good connection with our teachers. All thanks to talking with teachers outside of class about other things than only class-related topics. I also value the friendships I formed over the years at IES and I am still in contact with friends from school. I think that our time together really gave us something special. The connections and relationships formed at school are something of true value."

What is your best memory from IES?
"I have a lot of good memories from my time at IES, but there is one that stands out when we did LANs overnight. Both playing games in school and being in school overnight and outside of school hours was always fun. Also, in ninth grade my friend and I got to help sell tickets for the LAN. Most of the special events were just so much fun and the house days because we got to do something different."

Do you have any dreams for the future?
"I am not sure what I want to do in the future yet, but what I do know is that I want to do something creative."
