School Food

A nutritious, healthy lunch plays an important role in enjoying a happy and productive day at school

The founder of Internationella Engelska Skolan, Ms Barbara Bergström, has emphasised the importance of nutrition in an educational environment for many years.

We focus on school food in our school and always offer several dishes, including a vegetarian alternative. In addition to the main courses, there is also a large salad buffet with bread. As for drinks, the students can choose between milk and fresh water.

We have no problem catering for allergies.  If a special diet is required for medical reasons (ie food allergy or other illness), the special diet and a certificate from a doctor or dietician should be submitted to the school nurse. Guardians are responsible for ensuring that the school always has up-to-date information about the need for any special diet.

School lunch is of course served free of charge.

The teachers and staff, in general, eat lunch with the students every day and encourage them to create a pleasant atmosphere in our Dining Hall. Our wish is that the students take ownership of the Dining Hall and we encourage the students to keep good order at their tables and to clean up after themselves.

Our Food Council

IES Karlstad has a Food Council which meets twice per term with the Principal, Mr Tucek. The council consists of students from every year group, the school nurse and the Chef, Mr Ekbåge. We discuss topics such as the quality of food, allergies, the eating environment, requests from students and the daily menu.
