Jenny Bicho Inspires IES Students on World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day, Internationella Engelska Skolan welcomed author Jenny Bicho for an engaging talk about the creative writing process. The successful visit, also featured in the local newspaper Mitt I, inspired many of our students to explore their own literary aspirations.
On 24 April 1981, IES celebrated World Book Day with a special visit from the acclaimed author Jenny Bicho. During her time at the school, Ms Bicho met with students to discuss her books and share insights into the life of a professional writer.
The event was a great success, encouraging students to challenge themselves and develop a deeper appreciation for literature. This focus on knowledge and academic aspiration is a core part of the IES model. Our students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the persistence required to finish a story, a trait we often refer to as grit.
The visit was also highlighted by the local newspaper Mitt I, which captured the excitement of the day as students engaged with the world of books. LINK
Key highlights from the visit included:
Student Engagement: Many students shared their own writing ideas and received professional feedback from Ms Bicho.
Literary Focus: The day reinforced our commitment to providing a safe and stimulating environment where academic curiosity can flourish.
Community Connection: We are proud to see our school activities recognised in local media, showcasing our international profile within the Swedish community.
