#movewithIES

Children and young adults are moving less and they have increased both their sedentary time and their screen time. They are also to a lesser extent eating according to dietary advice. Children and young adults that are suffering from mental illness is also increasing.

IES needed to act and during the academic year 21/22 our health project, #movewithIES, was started at selected IES schools around the country.

In Södertälje we launched #movewithIES on the 15th of December 2023. The students tried some different activities like football, gymnastics, and basketball to mention some. Each participating  school has their own Health Motivator for #movewithIES. IES Södertäljes Health Motivator is Ms Flood (PE teacher).

The vision of #movewithIES

• Making physical activity and healthy eating habits become a natural part of the students' everyday life
• Helping students reach WHO's recommended dose of daily physical activity, 60 min/day
• Creating a sugar policy helping our schools become sugar smart
• Educating students in the subject of health, both physical and mental
  
  

With this health project, we want to give students the best conditions to succeed academically. We also hope that the healthy habits they have learned will stick with them for the rest of their lives!

Ms Flood will continue the work as our Health Motivator and soon we will have more activities.
