Fritids
We offer Fritids for all students in grades F-6 at both the start and end of the school day
Internationella Engelska Skolan Skellefteå offers a Day Care Centre for students in grades F-6. Our Day Care Centre follows the Swedish teaching plan for Day Care Centres (Fritidshem). Students have the opportunity to interact with friends and staff on Monday to Friday before and after school as well as during school holidays, except for the summer break between weeks 27 to week 31. Our Day Care Centre will be open from 06:30 am until 17:30 pm Monday to Friday. Breakfast will be served from 07:30 am and an afternoon snack will be served for those that are at the Day Care Centre after school.
IES Skellefteå's Day Care Centre is a bilingual, pedagogical centre that works closely with all of the other departments at our school. This is a place where students can feel safe and relaxed while also providing somewhere for students to socialise and interact in a calm but active environment with games and activities, field trips and plenty of opportunities to make new friends. Students will also have the opportunity to do their homework while at the Day Care Centre and receive help and support from staff. The activities that we provide will be fun and stimulating and are created to encourage and promote children’s curiosity and willingness to learn. During the school year, parents/guardians will receive weekly emails updating them on the previous week, and informing them of upcoming activities and events.
Our Day Care Centre will have both Swedish and native English speaking staff. IES Skellefteå is a Swedish school with an international profile where up to half of the lessons are taught in English. The day-to-day running of the Day Care Centre is overlooked by our Day Care Coordinator, however, it is our Principal, Mr Granström that is responsible.
Healthy meals will be prepared and served onsite for our students. It is important to us that our children maintain stable energy levels during the day in order to be able to perform at their best. Breakfast will be served every day and is available for all our children as well as a snack in the afternoon.
IES school rules should still be practiced while the children are at the Day Care Centre. We want to ensure that they know what kind of behaviour is expected of them and to have respect for each other.
