Östersund

At IES Östersund we believe that all of our students benefit from a daily nutritious and healthy lunch  to ensure a successful school day. The founder of Internationella Engelska Skolan, Ms Barbara Bergström, has even emphasised the importance of nutrition in an educational environment.  

Every day IES staff and students get to enjoy tasty food together in our spacious dining room.  A vegetarian option is always available and the kitchen staff have no problems catering to any allergies or dietary requirements. (Guardians are responsible for ensuring that the school always has up-to-date information about the need for any special diet). At IES Östersund we also have a large salad bar which offers a wide selection of vegetables for our students to enjoy alongside their lunch.

Each class has an allocated seating area that they are in charge of cleaning once they have finished their food. This helps to develop a sense of collective responsibility for creating a clean environment throughout the school.

It is also of great importance that our staff members are present during the lunch breaks and eating alongside the students. This ensures that the dining room has a calm and orderly environment and encourages a staff-student relationship. Thus our staff members always eat alongside the students in the dining hall, as part of a pedagogical lunch break. 

The school lunch is of course free of charge and a weekly menu is posted on SchoolSoft for students, staff and parents to view.
