Who is Jennie Carlsten?

It's time to get to know all the teachers and staff who will meet the students at IES Norrtälje in the autumn! Next up is our school nurse Jennie Carlsten, who once cycled to Paris, and makes amazing pancakes.

What did you do before you started at IES Norrtälje?
I have previously worked at IES Liljeholmen and IES Enskede, as well as at the children's intensive care unit at Sachsska. Most recently, I have been a district nurse at a healthcare centre, with a focus on providing crisis support.

What’s the best thing about your job?
I enjoy following and being a part of students' health and well-being, both physically, mentally, and socially. I also enjoy providing support to students, parents, and staff.

What are you most looking forward to when the school has opened?
I am most looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Do you have any pets?
I have a dog, a cat, and soon I will also have some sheep.

Tell us something about your family.
I live in the countryside outside of Norrtälje with my dog, cat, and soon-to-be sheep and chickens. I have three adult children: one lives outside of Chicago and is studying to be a psychologist, one lives in Köping and is a basketball player, and one lives in Stockholm and stays with me to help out with various tasks.

Tell something about yourself not many people know.
I once cycled to Paris and I make fantastic pancakes.

What was your favourite subject in school?
Social studies.

Do you have any dreams for the future?
My dreams include continuing to develop my small farm, acquiring more animals, spending time with my family and friends, and making IES Norrtälje the best school.

What do you do outside of work?
Hang out with my family and friends. I run a bit and like to read.
