The very first PTA meeting
On Saturday morning, March 2, the inaugural IES Norrtälje PTA (Parent Teacher Association) met for the very first time. Discussions alternated between Mr Fyles giving out information about the school, and parents asking and making suggestions about the nature of the school as it develops and moves forward.
For example, a lively debate ensued about having the schoolyard open or closed outside of school time and the parents were vociferous in their support of the IES ethos to NOT have mobile phones in the school.
The next event at the school is to be a 'Wall Mural Painting Day', at the end of March. At this event, students will be invited into the school and given the opportunity to write their names on book spines, which will form a library painting in the main entrance hall to the school, hence leaving their mark on the school forever.
The occasion was rounded off with a unanimous decision that the school's goal was to be the best school in town, based on academic results and the safety of children in the school environment.
“We had a great meeting with an open and friendly climate”, concluded one of the parents Mrs Emma del Monte Lijon.
