Popular Art Auction held at IES Norrtälje

On Saturday, June 8th, IES Norrtälje held its first Art Auction at the school. On a day when the weather changed its conditions by the second, about 150 parents and students and about 12 members of staff came to the dining hall at the school to bid on an array of interesting art objects.

The object that raised the largest amount was a card model of RMS Titanic.

The first objects were of special interest because they were works of art made by two of IES Norrtäljes very own students who will be starting in August: Chaila Halvarsson Noel, Year 4, and Märta Gudmundson, Year 7. Both objects sold very quickly!

Thereafter the objects started going out at a rapid pace. Paintings, vases, colouring sets and ceramics made up the collection and bids were fast and furious as children and adults bid continuously. ‘100, 110, 120, 130, 140… sold to the young lady at the back’! The object that raised the largest amount was a card model of RMS Titanic which raised over 540 kronor!

One of the parents attending, Johanna Hulström Jelk, said:
“Today’s auction for the RoslagsBlomman charity was a nice event for the whole family. Mr Fyles was a great auctioneer and made it a fun experience for both kids and adults! Hopefully we’ll have lots of these events in the future for us all to enjoy. It’s also nice to get the opportunity to come to the school and see the progress as the construction goes on. It’s a wonderful thing for the kids to be able to feel they are part of the journey to a completed school.”

At the end of the day, IES Norrtälje had collected over 4700 kronor for the non-profit association RoslagsBlomman, which assists children who cannot afford to do sports or join associations. Maria and Cine, who represented Roslagsblomman on the day, were grateful and happy. ‘We'll come back again’ beamed Cine as she was leaving. No doubt IES Norrtälje will be glad to have them back also.
