There was a warm and lively atmosphere at our front doors today as IES chief executive officer Lars Jonsson joined principal Neil Duncan for our daily morning greeting. Together, they stood at the entrance to welcome students as they arrived to start their school day. Having Mr Jonsson visit provided a wonderful opportunity to share our vibrant school environment and show how simple daily routines help create a calm, welcoming start to the day.
Greeting students at the door every morning is a key part of pastoral care across Internationella Engelska Skolan. Being present at the entrance gives guardians dropping off their children a quick, informal point of contact to say hello or check in. At the same time, it gives school leadership a moment to check in with students directly, seeing how they are feeling before they step into the classroom.

This daily morning welcome also helps set a calm and focused tone for the day ahead. As students arrive, the greeting marks a smooth transition from home to school. It also offers a friendly reminder of our school routines, such as placing mobile phones safely into our new phone lockers before heading off to class.
These brief morning interactions help build strong personal relationships across the school. Learning names and sharing a smile at the entrance helps students feel recognized, supported, and comfortable talking to staff whenever they need help. We were proud to share this important part of our daily routine with Mr Jonsson during his time with us today.
