Building Confidence and Safety: Flickfrid Self-Defense at IES Landskrona
At the International English School in Landskrona, an important initiative has taken shape to strengthen safety among young people.
As part of the Flickfrid project, led by Anita Enberg from Aktiv Ungdom Henka Dojo Jujitsu, young girls are offered self-defense training in collaboration with Rotary. The goal is to build confidence and provide concrete skills for handling challenging situations.
The training covers both mental and physical self-defense strategies and is held, among other places, on the school grounds. Here, Anita teaches practical techniques for managing an attacker, along with essential tips on how to stay alert and avoid potentially dangerous situations. On one occasion, the school was pleased to welcome Landskrona’s municipal commissioner, Torkild Strandberg, which brought additional recognition to the project.
The International English School sees great value in this work and now plans to further develop the collaboration. The school’s aim is to extend this training to more groups in the future, not only to young girls but also to boys and staff. By broadening the initiative, the school hopes to strengthen safety and create a more supportive environment for all students and staff.
The initiative is both powerful and necessary. Flickfrid offers young girls knowledge and confidence, enabling them to feel stronger and safer. At the same time, the project reflects a reality where these skills are essential, highlighting the importance of providing young people with tools to navigate an uncertain world.
With the support of Rotary, Aktiv Ungdom, and Henka Dojo Jujitsu, the International English School hopes that this vital training will continue to grow and reach more young people in Landskrona, thereby contributing to a safer and more positive future for everyone at the school.
