We welcome Mr Damian Brunker as the new Principal at IES Kista

Mr. Marcus Segerstedt Regional Director North announces the appointment of Mr Damian Brunker as the new Principal at IES Kista starting 1 July.

 

Dear parents, guardians, students and staff of IES Kista, May 2025 

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Damian Brunker as the new Principal at IES Kista effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Brunker has a long and impressive record within Internationella Engelska Skolan, most recently serving as Principal at IES Eskilstuna. Over the years, he played a key role in the school’s strong development, resulting in very good academic outcomes, a motivated and engaged staffteam, and positive feedback from both students and guardians. Before leading IES Eskilstuna, Mr Brunker worked as Head of Education at the IES Head Office, developing our early systems for systematic quality work. Mr Brunker is originally from the UK and has lived in Sweden for almost 20 years. He is a qualified Principal with a diploma from Rektorsprogrammet. With his strong educational background and approachable, student-focused leadership style, we are confident that Mr. Brunker is the ideal person to lead IES Kista into the future. 

School operations will continue as usual until the end of the academic year under the leadership of Mr. Reunanen, who will remain as Acting Principal during the transition period. A thorough handover process is planned to ensure a smooth start for Mr. Brunker in July. 

As Regional Director, I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Mr. Reunanen for stepping up as Acting Principal during the recruitment process. I look forward to continuing to support the future development of IES Kista together with the dedicated leadership team and experienced staff.
