Celebrating Science Excellence: Matei Heads to the EOES Swedish Finals!

We are thrilled to announce that Matei Dystland Ghica, a student from class 9B, has achieved an incredible milestone by advancing to the Swedish Finals of the European Olympiad of Experimental Science (EOES)! 🧪🌍🔬
EOES is an exciting EU-based science competition where teams of three students collaborate to solve practical, hands-on challenges combining biology, physics, and chemistry. It's open to students who began Year 9 or Year 1 of gymnasium the autumn prior to the competition.
Out of 12 finalists from Swedish secondary schools and 27 in total, Matei is the ONLY student from Värmland to make it this far—a remarkable achievement! 🎉
Matei’s journey began when his science teacher, Mr. Eric Kim, encouraged him to take the qualification test, recognizing his high academic potential. At IES Karlstad, we are committed to supporting students with exceptional talents and academic ambitions, and Matei’s success is a shining example of this commitment.
When asked for his advice on excelling in science, Matei shared:
"Find a topic that excites you and dive deep into it. Don’t be afraid to ask your teacher for guidance and tips!"
Join us in congratulating Matei and wishing him the very best as he prepares for the EOES finals! 👏
