Grand Opening: Student Café

After a period of planning and dedication, IES Jönköping has finally opened the doors to its new Student Café! The project has been driven by the Student Council, taking it all the way from initial idea to reality.

During the day, students and staff gathered for the Grand Opening. Our Student Council President cut the symbolic ribbon for our "Grand Opening." To celebrate the premiere, all students were treated to hot chocolate, toast and fruit.

The new café is a direct result of the students' own dedication. Through the Student Council, they have developed a concept for how the café should operate and be staffed. The idea is for the café to be run by the students themselves, providing them with an opportunity to gain practical work experience.

Throughout the process, students have learned what is required to start a business. While staff members have been involved to ensure that laws and regulations are followed, the students have been actively involved in the decision-making process.

"The wait was long and the process was lengthy, but the Student Café is even better than we imagined! It’s beautiful and looks just like a real café."

Practical Experience for the Future

By staffing the café during opening hours, students get to practice taking responsibility in a real-world setting.

We look forward to many pleasant "fika" breaks ahead and are proud to see our students grow with their new responsibilities here at IES Jönköping.
