The intake process for Grade 5-9 commenced in April 2024 and will continue until all places are filled.

If you have further questions, please send them to admissions.hasselby@engelska.se.

Apply in just three steps:

  1. Click Join the Queue.
  2. Choose the school you want to apply for (Every school has its own queue. You can place your child in the queue from 1 February the year after they were born).
  3. Fill in the form including your details and those of your child so that we can stay in touch and let you know if a place becomes available.

It is the guardian's responsibility to ensure that the contact information is accurate and up to date. Updates can be made by logging in using the details sent via email during registration, Bank ID or by contacting the school directly at admissions.hasselby@engelska.se.

There is no exam or test for your child to pass if they would like to learn at an IES school. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Because of the way that we are funded we are only able to offer education to students registered as living in Sweden. You can apply for a place for any student who has a Swedish national identity number (personnummer), even if they have not yet moved back to Sweden.

If you don't have a Swedish national identity number but are moving to Sweden and still wish to apply, please follow these steps:

  • Go to the tab Join Queue and click on "Join our queue".
  • Choose the school you want to apply for (Every school has its own queue. You can place your child in the queue from 1 February the year after they were born).
  • Fill out the form with your details and those of your child so that we can keep in touch and notify you if a place becomes available. For the social security number, use your child's date of birth followed by "TF00" instead of the last four digits. For example: 231011-TF00.

It is the responsibility of the guardian to ensure that the contact information is accurate and up to date. Updates can be made by logging in using the details provided via email during registration, using BankID, or by contacting the school directly at admissions.hasselby@engelska.se.

On our website you can find all the schools we run, or those we have committed to open. If you are interested in a school we have not yet opened, please email info@engelska.se and ask to have your email address added to the list of people who would like to be informed if we announce a school in that location in the future.

Our queue operates on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure fairness for all applicants. However, if your child has a sibling currently enrolled at the school, and both children will attend simultaneously, they may qualify for priority placement in the queue (syskonförtur). In such instances, please include the sibling’s Swedish ID number in the designated box when applying for any additional children.

A number of IES schools, not IES Hässelby, are registered at Skolinspektionen for a possibility to dedicate a limited number of places in the queue for students who have been resident in the country for less than two years, in Swedish called "särskild kvot" which is regulated in förordning (2022:222) om särskild kvot i fristående skolor.

These schools have the possibility to prioritize newly arrived students in the queue. Enrolling in the school depends on the available free spots in each year group. Please contact the school you are applying to for more information and to ask if they are registered for this possibility.

At IES Hässelby, our admissions process for the upcoming academic years begins in January. The duration of the admission process varies based on the response time of families who have been offered a place.

We are currently processing admissions primarily for students starting in grade 4 for the upcoming academic year. However, we also have a few available spots in grades 5-9. Offers are being sent out regularly via email.

For more information about the current status of the admissions process, please feel free to reach out to us via admissions.hasselby@engelska.se.

We understand that you would like to know as early as possible whether your child has a place. However, it is difficult to give a precise answer before the school completes the intake process.

We offer places based on the date on which students joined the queue, but also consider whether they will have a sibling in the school at the same time (syskonförtur).

For specific inquiries about your place in the queue, please email us at admissions.hasselby@engelska.se.

Each school has its own queue, and it is not possible to move between them. However, it is possible to join the queue for more than one school at the same time.

Updates can be made by logging in using the details sent via email during registration, Bank ID or by contacting the school directly at admissions.hasselby@engelska.se.

If you decline an offered place, you will lose your spot in the queue, and the place will be offered to the next student in line.

However, you can choose to re-enter the queue if you want to be considered for a placement at a later time. Please email admissions.hasselby@engelska.se, and we will assist you in reapplying.

The student intake process begins the year before students enter grade 4. During the fall term, we reach out to everyone in the queue to confirm their continued interest in remaining on the list and starting in grade 4.

If for any reason you no longer wish to secure a place for grade 4 but still want to remain in the queue, this is your opportunity to update your application with a new queue date. Once an offer has been extended, you can no longer change the start year without rejoining the queue.

In January, we offer placements to the first 96 children in the queue for grade 4. Following this, the intake process continues throughout the spring. We issue new offers as soon as we receive confirmation that a placement offer has been declined.

Later in the spring, we commence the admissions process for grades 5-9 based on the availability of places in the upcoming year.

To ensure that we reach all individuals in the queue, we utilize various communication methods when extending placement offers. It is the guardian's responsibility to ensure that the contact information is up to date.
