IES Norrtälje is planned to be a school with two parallel classes for grades F–9 for a total of 600 students when completed. A schoolyard as well as a new sports facility will also be built adjacent to the school, which is centrally located with good transport links. The school will contribute to meeting the need for additional school places as identified by the municipality. Provided all the necessary permits are obtained, the queue for IES Norrtälje will open on 1 February 2022.

Anna Sörelius Nordenborg, CEO of Internationella Engelska Skolan, comments: “We are looking forward to, in cooperation with Norrtälje Municipality and Famera, constructing a new school and taking an active role in the local community. We are proud of the trust placed in us and we look forward to contributing to the Municipality’s education initiative with an international school of high quality. IES stands for a safe and orderly school environment and has high expectations of all students, regardless of background.”

“Internationella Engelska Skolan and Famera will complement Norrtälje’s school offering and will bring a sought-after and attractive international profile. I regard IES as a complement and not a competitor to our schools and I am pleased that this establishment has been marked by cooperation that has put the needs of Norrtälje’s residents in focus,” says Bino Drummond, Chair of the Municipal Board (Moderate Party) Norrtälje Municipality.

The contract is conditional on being granted a building permit and a permit from the Swedish Schools Inspectorate.
