IES Karlstad awarded for international school partnership
Internationella Engelska Skolan Karlstad has been awarded an accolade within the EU's eTwinning/Erasmus scheme for a successful European school partnership. The project demonstrates how collaboration with schools in other countries can become a meaningful part of students' everyday learning.
Providing students with an international outlook alongside high academic expectations is central to IES. Over the past year, IES Karlstad took this a step further through a cross-border eTwinning/Erasmus project, which was recently recognised with an official award for its high pedagogical quality.
The key behind this success is the school's förstelärare (lead teacher), Ms Maria Mascaró, whose passionate commitment guides and inspires her teaching colleagues to step into international projects.
"Ms Mascaró does a fantastic job of engaging our teachers and driving the school's international profile forward. Receiving an award for this project is proof of the hard work and high quality that our teachers deliver every day," says Ms Karin Sjöbom, principal at IES Karlstad.
New opportunities through international collaboration
The award further strengthens IES Karlstad's ongoing international work. The experience gained from this and previous projects creates opportunities for students to collaborate with students in other countries, apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, and discover new perspectives.
The experience and quality of the completed projects have also helped broaden the school's international network and establish new contacts with European schools interested in future partnerships.
"International projects allow our students to take learning outside the classroom. They get to use their language skills, experience other cultures, and learn to collaborate with young people from other countries. At the same time, the new contacts we make allow us to continue developing our international work and creating new opportunities for our students," concludes Ms Sjöbom.
