Starting next school year, IES Hässleholm will grow into an F-9 school, with a total of 550 students. The renovation of the premises will begin in January 2024, and when completed, the school will cover 3,900 square metres, including fritidshem. Families can register in the queue for the younger years already now.
By opening up the school for F-3, students are given the opportunity to experience the international profile of IES with a calm and safe school environment right from the start of their schooling. It will be a natural way to gradually acquaint the bilingual teaching that has been a hallmark of IES for 30 years.
“It is a fantastic feeling to be able to offer families in northern Skåne the opportunity to choose a bilingual school with an international profile right from the first school year”, says Maria Hall, principal of IES Hässleholm.
From förskoleklass, the students will experience teacher-led teaching with high academic expectations, with many opportunities for play, recreation, varied activities and rest. Together with the fritidshem, it creates a whole that will stimulate the development and learning of the student, departing from their needs, interests and experiences.
The landlord Hemsö is rebuilding and refurbishing the school, which will thus gain access to an additional 600 square metres in the spring of 2024, to a total of 3,900 square metres, to accommodate the new grades and fritidshem.
“The students will be met by newly renovated and well-thought-out premises and a super nice schoolyard that offers an outdoor environment for play and creativity” Maria Hall says.
