QUEUE AND SIBLING PRIORITY

Important information about the queue

  • Places are offered in order of queue date. The earlier you register your child in the queue, the greater the chance of being offered a place at the school.

  • The earliest you can register your child in the queue is 1 February in the year after they are born.

  • Sibling priority may apply. For this to be valid, the sibling(s) must already be enrolled at, or still attending, an IES school when the other child starts.

Admissions Process: Step by Step

How to apply for the queue

To place your child in the queue, you create an account on our website by logging in with BankID, where you enter your personal data. If you are missing a Swedish BankID, download the application form at the bottom of this page and email it to admissions. If you do not have a Swedish personal identification number, please contact us directly, and we will help you further.

In the next step, you confirm your email address. Check your spam folder if you have not received it. Once your email is confirmed, you can proceed with the application.

  • Your child’s personal identity number (YYYYMMDD-NNNN).
  • Add any siblings to the application, as sibling priority may apply.
  • Register the contact details of all guardians (this information is important – if a place is offered, all guardians must accept before the child can start at the school). Guardian 2 will also receive a verification email.
  • Select school, start of the academic year, and year level. Keep in mind that children in Sweden usually start 'förskoleklass' the year they turn 6.
All registered guardians will receive a confirmation email once a queue place has been created for your child.
Please get in touch with the school if you have not received a confirmation email after completing your registration.

You can, at any time, log in via our website and manage your information, such as your desired start year or adding siblings.

If your child receives a placement offer, you log in to the ‘queue login’ via our website with BankID. After that, you make an active choice to confirm the offer. We will then send all the information you need before the start of school.

Don’t have a Swedish BankID?
Fill in the application form below and send it to the school you are applying to, either by email or by post.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about our admission routines

We understand that you would like to know as early as possible whether your child has a place. However, it is difficult to give a precise answer before the school completes the intake process. We offer places based on the date on which students joined the queue, but also consider whether they will have a sibling in the school at the same time (syskonförtur).

Write to the school in question and let them know your queue ID number or personnummer and the information that you would like to change. You can find contact details for our schools here.

Our queue runs on a first-come, first-served basis, in the interests of fairness for all. However, if your child has a sibling who currently attends the school, and if both of your children will be students at the school at the same time, then they may be entitled to advanced placement in the queue (syskonförtur). In this case please write the sibling’s Swedish ID number in the appropriate box when applying for any other children.

There is no exam or test for your child to pass if they would like to learn at an IES school. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Because of the way that we are funded we are only able to offer education to students registered as living in Sweden. You can apply for a place for any student who has a Swedish national identity number (personnummer), even if they have not yet moved back to Sweden. If you do not yet have a Swedish national identity number but are moving to Sweden and would still like to apply, please contact the school in question for advice.
