A huge success for the spring car boot sale at IES Växjö!
On Saturday 18 April, we transformed the school car park into a bustling car boot sale. In the lovely spring sunshine, sellers, bargain-hunting visitors and excited students gathered for a day filled with reuse and community spirit.
It wasn’t just the temperature that rose on Saturday – the atmosphere was also fantastic. Early in the morning, the car park was filled with cars loaded with everything from jewellery and clothes to toys and books. It was clear that there was a great deal of interest in both selling and finding bargains.
An appreciated initiative
The response from both sellers and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. Many took the opportunity to clear out their storage spaces, whilst others enjoyed strolling around in the spring sunshine looking for unique items.
“It’s great to see how a simple idea like a car boot sale can engage so many people. The car park was full, the sun was shining, and the Year 9 students did a fantastic job with the refreshments. The fact that we can also promote reuse and sustainability fits well with the school’s values”, says Maja Åkesson, one of the organisers.
Year 9 added a special touch
No car boot sale is complete without refreshments, and our hard-working Year 9 students stayed at school on Friday afternoon, baking away in preparation for the sale. They were on hand all day, selling homemade treats and coffee to both sellers and visitors.
All proceeds from the refreshments go directly to the students’ class fund, and it was inspiring to see the students’ commitment and teamwork.
A big thank you
We at IES Växjö would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came and made this Saturday such a success. All the sellers, visitors, and of course our fantastic students and parents who helped out.
We are already looking forward to the next time we can host a car boot sale!
