Introducing our Academic Coordinator : Mr. Eric Winkler

In the heart of IES Västerås' academic engine lies the role of the Academic Coordinator, a position currently held by a dedicated individual with a decade of experience at our school, Mr Winkler. This interview explores Mr Winkler's role as academic coordinator, revealing a solution-focused individual who thrives on the duality of classroom teaching and leadership collaboration.

How long have you been an Academic Coordinator ?

I have been in this role for three of the ten years I have been at the school.

 

Why are you an Academic Coordinator ?

I am an Academic Coordinator because I am a solution-focused person who likes to problem solve and help develop people and processes. Everything and everyone can develop to be better versions of what they have been and I enjoy playing an active role in that process.

 

What do you enjoy about being an Academic Coordinator  ?

What I enjoy most about my role is its duality. I get to be in the classroom as a teacher, working with, teaching and developing students in French, and I get to be a part of the Leadership Team, work with the Heads of Department to develop the overall academics of the school.

 

What is your goal as our Academic Coordinator at IES Västerås?

My goal as Academic Coordinator at IESV is to work more collaboratively with the students, teachers, Heads of Department and school leadership to continually review and strengthen the academics in our school. This could involve development of lesson activities and structures, incorporation of technology, improving communications, professional development for teaching staff and much more.
