We offer fritids for all students in grades F-3 and 4-6 at both the start and end of the school day

When you work or study, the child stays at fritids for the time you work or study plus travel times. You are responsible for entering your child's stay times in the fritids digital attendance system (Schoolsoft). When you have a holiday or leave, your child does not stay at the fritids.

If you, as a guardian, need extended periods of stay, you must notify the need at least 14 days in advance so that fritids can plan its staffing. 

Breakfast is served between 07.30-07.50 during regular school days.

We are outside every morning after breakfast throughout the school year. 

Mellis is served 13.30-15.00 during regular school days. 

Fritids is a safe and fun place where students can spend time both before and after school. 

Our goal is to offer an environment that is safe, bilingual and stimulating. We have a close collaboration with the school and its teachers and try to collaborate with different themes and traditions to create a common thread in our activities.

The teachers offer several activities that invite your child to try something new or do something that they think is extra fun. During fritids, students get the opportunity to meet new friends from other classes and play new games. It is important to us that the children get to participate and influence their free time. We try to accommodate the children's interests and wishes in our activities.

Some of the activities we offer: Sports club, arts and crafts, homework help, chess club, textiles and much more!

We follow the same guidelines as Umeå Kommun for opening hours and stay times.

How to register for a place: 

If you are interested in your child being in the Fritids program of IES Umeå, you will have to apply through Umeå kommuns website, where you choose Internationella Engelska Skolan. Parental leave and fritids:

Parental leave guardians of students in F-class through year 3 are offered an after-school place for ten hours per week, except on primary school holidays when you as a parent are on parental leave with younger siblings.

If the child needs extended time due to special reasons, you must contact the principal.

If you need placement for more than ten hours for your child at the after-school center based on studies or work, the application for extended stay time during parental leave must be completed and sent to the educational placement unit together with the certificate of work/studies.

Parental leave guardian of a student in grades 4 - 6, your child does not have the right to a place at the fritids when you are on parental leave with younger siblings. The spot will end 1 month after the sibling's birth. If your child needs a place at fritids for special reasons, you must contact the principal.

Fritids during breaks:

Before the holidays, you must fill in appointments four to six weeks in advance. This is so that we can plan for the number of staff, how much food we will cook and which activities we will offer.

On holidays and school closing days, breakfast is served at 08.00. Lunch is served at 11 a.m. during holidays and school closing days. On holidays and school closing days, mellis is served at 2 p.m

Summerbreak:

We close our business for four weeks during the summer. During these weeks, we only offer fritids for those parents who can show a certificate of work/study.

Our opening hours during these weeks vary and are based on the times the children are here.

In families where the child lives alternately with their guardians, the child is free if one of the guardians is free.
