IES Täby Honoured as Role Model for Chess in Schools

IES Täby has received the prestigious "A Role Model for Chess in Schools" diploma. Representatives from national and regional chess federations visited to present the award.

Internationella Engelska Skolan Täby was honoured to receive a diploma recognizing the school as "A Role Model for Chess in Schools". General Secretary Håkan Östling from Svenska Schackförbundet and Chairperson Karl Dingertz from Stockholms Schackförbund personally visited the school to present the award.

The recognition highlights IES Täby as an outstanding ambassador for chess and a strategically important partner to both federations. It celebrates the pedagogical value of our chess program, our staff's dedication, and our strong competitive results. These achievements include top finishes in the Swedish School Team Championships, the IES National Chess Championship, and Yes2Chess, culminating in our 2026 Swedish Championship title in Yes2Chess for senior school.

Our dedicated staff members, Ms Carpenter, Mr Papadopoulos, and Mr Pha, played a significant role in guiding our students to this success.

Through chess, our students practice determination, critical thinking, and grit. We are proud of their dedication and the supportive school environment created by our staff.
