One-to-One Chromebook Devices: Information for Guardians
We are stepping up our one-to-one Chromebook solution this year. Students in Grades 7–9 will each be assigned their own device, making them fully responsible for their learning tool.
Last year, our school introduced a one-to-one Chromebook solution for students in Grades 5 to 9. This means that every student had access to a device during the school day, with Chromebooks available in their home classrooms.
This year, we are taking the next step for Grades 7 to 9. Each student will receive a personal loaner Chromebook, which they will be responsible for and use both in school and at home. Alongside this, we are moving to subject-based classrooms, where students attend lessons in rooms dedicated to each subject.
We believe these changes will strengthen the learning environment. Students will take greater responsibility for their learning tools, benefit from variety by moving between classrooms, and teachers will have the opportunity to design their subject rooms to better reflect the content being taught.
Guardians and students will be asked to sign contracts, including IT ethical guidelines, rules, and terms of use. Once the signed documents are returned, students will receive a loaner Chromebook along with a charger and carrying bag.
