Summer Letter from the Principal

As we wrap up an eventful and enriching school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished together and to thank each and every member of our school community—students, staff, and guardians—for your dedication, cooperation, and support.

This year has truly been fantastic. One of our exciting developments has been the successful implementation of the House System, which has added a vibrant new dimension to our school culture. It has strengthened our sense of belonging, encouraged teamwork, and sparked healthy competition across all year levels.

We also launched the Move With IES health project, promoting physical activity and well-being throughout the school. This important initiative will continue to grow next year, with a new focus project in Year 8 called "Det syns inte", raising awareness about mental health and the unseen aspects of wellness. We’ll also be introducing even more break activities to keep energy levels high and minds engaged during the school day.

Academically, the teachers have gotten more collegial time to co-plan, co-assess and co-grade throughout the school year. They have already planned for many interesting cross-curricular projects for the autumn. We also took a significant step forward by introducing IGCSE Cambridge courses in English and Mathematics for Year 8 and 9 students who are ready for an extra challenge. These have been very popular and more applications have come in for next year, also in French. These internationally recognized qualifications not only deepen students’ learning but also strengthen their CVs and prepare them for future studies—whether in Sweden or abroad.

Throughout the year, we’ve celebrated learning and creativity with a rich calendar of events: theme days, a spooky Halloween disco, our cozy Autumn and Christmas fairs, and the inspiring Academic Showcase that featured an absolutely amazing Talent Show. Our students have also enjoyed numerous sports tournaments and educational outings to museums, expanding learning beyond the classroom.

Our staff continues to go the extra mile, creating meaningful and memorable experiences for our students every single day. A special highlight has been the revitalization of our library, now a lively and inviting space under the care of our new, passionate librarian.

The school year ended on a high note for our graduating Year 9 students, with a wonderful prom and a sunny graduation ceremony. Watching their blue caps soar into the sky was, as always, a powerful and emotional moment.

Survey results from this year reflect growing satisfaction across our school community—especially in areas like safety, peace and calm, mentoring, and the quality of teacher feedback. While we’re proud of this progress, we remain committed to constant improvement in all areas.

To all our fantastic students and dedicated staff: I wish you a well-deserved, relaxing summer break. Rest, recharge, and enjoy every moment—you’ve earned it. I’m already looking forward to welcoming you all back for another exciting year filled with new goals, new projects, and continued growth.

Warmest regards,

Mrs Bohlin
Principal
