Students at IES achieve excellent results in the world's most popular international exam. The results show that IES students score higher in English as a second language compared to students at other Cambridge schools worldwide.

IES offers the Cambridge IGCSE, the world's most popular exam for students aged 14-16 years. Cambridge International Education, owned by the University of Cambridge, works with over 10,000 schools worldwide, offering an international curriculum from the early years to high school. Thirty-seven of these schools are part of Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES). Now, IES Sundbyberg is also part of this, thanks to the persistent work of Mr. DuPlessis, Head of Cambridge and English teacher.

Recently, the results from the latest exam series have been published. Nearly 300,000 students from about 4,600 schools in 140 countries took the Cambridge IGCSE exams in June 2024.

At IES, almost 500 students completed Year 9 in 2024 after taking at least one IGCSE exam.

The results show that IES students achieve higher grades in English as a second language compared to students at other Cambridge schools worldwide.

14.4% of IES students received the highest possible grade, A*, compared to 10.6% of all participating students worldwide.
90.4% of IES students received a grade of C or higher, compared to 67.3% of all participating students worldwide.

Frederik Granström, Cambridge Head at IES, says:
"I want to congratulate our students and teachers for these results and their hard work and perseverance. Cambridge IGCSE offers a unique opportunity for our students to challenge themselves further, as Cambridge IGCSE is more demanding than the Swedish curriculum. Additionally, Cambridge IGCSE is an internationally recognized education that can open doors to studies and a career abroad."

Johanna Bohlin, Principal at IES Sundbyberg, says:
"Becoming part of Cambridge is something we in Sundbyberg have worked hard for. Now, the students from Sundbyberg can measure themselves against the rest of the world, but most importantly, they are receiving an education that is very good and gives them the best academic opportunities for the future."
