Dansa för livet at IES Sundbyberg
Yesterday on International Suicide Prevention Day, IES Sundbyberg students and staff danced together to support mental health awareness as part of Move with IES.
Yesterday, 10 September at 10:00, students and staff at IES Sundbyberg gathered in the schoolyard to participate in Dansa för livet on International Suicide Prevention Day. Everyone wore black and white clothing alongside colorful house neckerchiefs, coming together to dance to music by Avicii in support of mental health awareness.
The gathering was one of many monthly events organized by our Student Health Team alongside the Move with IES initiative. Over recent weeks, students have been learning about mental health awareness to help them recognize who they can turn to when facing challenges.
Because mental health struggles are often linked to isolation and a lack of physical activity, IES Sundbyberg prioritizes active, joyful community events. Under the IES model, student well-being and pastoral care work alongside high academic standards to ensure every student feels safe, valued, and supported by the adults around them. Showing great grit and team spirit, our school community demonstrated that we are always here to help one another.
Local radio station Sveriges Radio P4 visited the school during the morning to cover the initiative. They interviewed two of our students as well as principal Johanna Bohlin about the importance of promoting mental health awareness in schools.
