IES Staffanstorp approved as a Cambridge-school
IES Staffanstorp has now been approved by Cambridge International Education (Cambridge) to offer their world-leading international education programs. Frederik Granström, Cambridge manager at Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES), said: "The fact that we can now offer Cambridge's programme at another school is gratifying and an example of our long-term work to give more students access to an internationally recognised education, studying in English with high academic expectations."
Cambridge International Education is part of the University of Cambridge. They work with schools all over the world with a curriculum that shapes knowledge, understanding, and skills. Through Cambridge, students who want to challenge themselves further can supplement their regular teaching according to the Swedish curriculum with an internationally viable education.
The Swedish students at IES are also among the best in the world at English as a second language. Nearly 300,000 students in about 4,600 schools in 140 countries took the Cambridge IGCSE exam in June 2024. The results show that IES students in Sweden receive higher grades in English as a second language compared to Cambridge students worldwide.
Mr Granström said: "At IES, we are convinced that all children can succeed, regardless of background. This belief means that we support each student so that they can reach their full potential. The collaboration with Cambridge provides an opportunity for students who want to stretch themselves further and challenge themselves beyond the foundation that the Swedish curriculum provides." Now IES Staffanstorp will also offer Cambridge teaching and exams, bringing the total within IES that offer Cambridge to 38.
Truls Katzler, principal of IES Staffanstorp, said: "It feels incredibly fun. It is also an acknowledgement that interest in studying English is increasing."
