A World-Class Education: The International School at IES Skellefteå

At IES Skellefteå, we are proud to offer an International School that follows the Cambridge International Curriculum. This programme is designed for students aged 5 to 16 and is widely regarded as the gold standard in international education.

Our mission is simple: to provide a rigorous, flexible, and culturally rich learning environment that prepares students for the challenges of the 21st century. Unlike traditional models that often rely on memorisation, the Cambridge approach emphasises active learning. We encourage students to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged.

The curriculum is structured into four progressive stages:
– Cambridge Primary (Ages 5–11, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two)
– Cambridge Lower Secondary (Ages 11–14, Key Stage Three)
– Cambridge Upper Secondary / IGCSE (Ages 14–16, Key Stage Four)

Children start in F-class and go up to grade 10.

Key benefits for your child
– International recognition: The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is the world’s most popular international qualification. It is recognised by leading universities and employers across the globe, giving our students a distinct competitive edge.

– A holistic framework: While we maintain high academic standards in core subjects like sciences and languages, we also focus on the "whole child." We aim to build well-rounded global citizens who understand their place in a connected world.

– Comprehensive assessment: We don’t just test memory. Our evaluations use a mix of exams, coursework, and practical projects to measure a student’s true understanding and ability to apply knowledge.

– Future-ready skills: By fostering critical thinking and problem-solving, we ensure our students are prepared for modern, skill-focused careers.
