A Truly International Education
IES Skellefteå International School offers a globally recognized education entirely in English, fostering confidence, creativity, and critical thinking.

With a prestigious heritage dating back to 1858, Cambridge Assessment International Education is a cornerstone of academic excellence, recognized and respected by international schools worldwide. As a department of the University of Cambridge, the Cambridge Assessment upholds rigorous standards, ensuring that students receive a world-class education tailored for success in a globalized society. Today students in more than 160 countries follow the Cambridge Pathway.

The Cambridge Pathway at our school consists of three stages:

Building strong foundations in core subjects.

In the primary stage students take four key subjects:

  • English: first and second language,

  • Mathematics,

  • Science,

  • Cambridge Global Perspectives.

  • Cambridge ICT (Information Communication Technology) teaching is integrated into the subject areas to strengthen digital skills.

Developing deeper knowledge and skills.

In the lower secondary stage the students continue to follow the same four subject curricula as Cambridge Primary, as well as integrating Cambridge ICT (Information Communication Technology) teaching.

  • English: first and second language,

  • Mathematics,

  • Science,

  • Cambridge Global Perspectives.

Students at Cambridge Upper Secondary follow the ICE programme which is a broad and balanced curriculum recommended by Cambridge with a view to succeeding in their IGCSEs. Cambridge Upper Secondary builds on the foundations of Cambridge Lower Secondary, although learners do not need to complete that stage first.

At the end of year 9, students have the opportunity to take IGCSEs in a number of subjects such as:

  • English - first/second language

  • Global Perspectives

  • History

  • Mathematics

  • Science - Combined

  • Spanish

Upper secondary students graduate from the school after taking the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) exams.
