ABOUT OUR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
We are pleased to announce that we have opened our international school during the autumn of 2020 in the same building as the Internationella Engelska Skolan Skellefteå. The school will follow Cambridge Assessment International Education’s curriculum, which provides an education recognised by universities and employers around the world.
The international school will be characterised by a safe and orderly learning environment and high academic ambitions and aspirations, much like the other schools of Internationella Engelska Skolan. Our dedicated staff will encourage your child to do their best and will make the transition from your child's current school as easy as possible. We recruit teachers who have received their teaching degree from reputable universities in countries such as Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
IES Skellefteå International School will offer the first three stages of the Cambridge International curriculum: Cambridge Primary (age 5-11), Cambridge Lower Secondary (age 11-14) and Cambridge Upper Secondary (age 14-16). Upper secondary students will graduate from the school after taking the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) exams. All teaching will be provided in English.
The international school will offer a programme which differs from the Swedish curriculum and therefore IES Skellefteå International School is for students who:
● are resident in Sweden for a limited time
● went to school abroad for an extended period and want to finish their education in Sweden
● will move away from Sweden for a longer time
● have English as a daily contact language, where one or both guardians have English as their mother tongue
According to the Swedish National Agency for Education's (Skolverket’s) rules for international schools in Sweden, only students who meet one or more of these criteria are allowed to follow the international curriculum. Other students are warmly welcomed to IES Skellefteå, our bilingual school with an international profile, which follows the Swedish curriculum.
