ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Our school library

Our library at IES Sigtuna is a hub of knowledge and discovery, proudly curated by our dedicated librarians, Ms D. Österman and Ms. van Wyk. Over the years, we have developed an extensive and diverse collection of books, offering something for every reader. Whether you are looking to escape into a fictional world, research a project, or simply explore new topics, our library has something for everyone.  From contemporary novels and historical texts to scientific explorations, our library is designed to support not only the academic growth of our students but also to nurture their love for reading and curiosity about the world. We invite all students to explore the wonderful world of English and Swedish literature within our shelves.

Library Lessons

Each week, every class has a dedicated library lesson. During these sessions, students have the opportunity to explore our collection of books, find new reading material, and draw inspiration from the diverse topics and genres available.

Library lessons are a special time for students to immerse themselves in the world of books. It's a quiet and focused period where they can practice their reading skills, discover new stories, and learn to appreciate the joy of reading. Our aim is to create a relaxing environment where students can develop a lifelong love for literature.

How Does Borrowing Work?

Every student from Pre to Year 9 at IES Sigtuna has their own library account, giving them the privilege to borrow books from our collection. Students are encouraged to take their chosen books home, where they can continue their reading journey. We trust that our students will care for the books, ensuring they remain in good condition for others to enjoy.
