Naturvetenskap och Teknik för Alla - Theme Soil

Our students in Years F-3 have been working on expanding their knowledge of autumn and nature, primarily through working with the NTA box about soil.

Our youngest students in F-3 recently worked with expanding their knowledge about autumn and nature, which they did with the help of the NTA (Naturvetenskap och Teknik för Alla) box about soil.

The students had some questions that acted as a a baseline, and were the foundation of what they were going to investigate:

  • What is there in nature?
  • What is soil?
  • What can you find in soil? Why?
  • How do different materials work in different environments and conditions?

To answer these questions they've gotten to make their own composts with worms, plant pea shoots and are currently working on recognizing what's soil, sand and mud in both dry and wet conditions and how you can tell them apart. To do this they use their senses: hearing, sight and touch.

In a few weeks their knowledge will be put to the test in a final experiment where they will use their newly acquired skills to see if they can reveal what's hiding in a secret concoction.
