Democracy in Action: Students Take On School Election
Students in Years 4–9 took part in a school election. Through voting and discussions, they learned how democracy works in practice.
In connection with the general election, students in Years 4–9 participated in the school election. Organised as part of MUCF's national initiative for Swedish schools, the exercise provided a practical understanding of democratic processes, information gathering, and critical thinking.
Social studies teachers prepared students across all year groups. Activities included visiting local election booths, analyzing party platforms, and discussing and practicing media literacy. Students also analyzed campaign posters to understand how image and text influence voters. The objective was to foster engaged, curious, and critical young citizens.
Voting took place with real ballot papers and polling booths in a structured environment, led by student involvement:

Year 8 Polling Clerks: Year 8 students managed the school's polling station during election day under the guidance of social studies teacher Mr Haraldson.

Year 6 Voting Support: Two Year 6 students organised a dedicated election booth for middle school students unable to vote on the middle school election day.

Years 7–9: Participated officially in the national MUCF school election, with votes submitted to the nationwide tally.

Years 4–6: Participated in the school's local election.
Including Years 4–6 was a school level initiative. Although their votes are not included in the official MUCF national results, giving younger students early experience with democratic processes is an important part of the curriculum.
