Spreading Kindness Through Art

Throughout January, our school focused on Positive Mental and Kindness Behaviors (PMKB), engaging students in activities that emphasized diversity, respect, and inclusion. As part of this initiative, we held an Anti-Bullying Poster Competition, encouraging students to express their ideas through art. The competition sparked creativity, with one group of Year 7 students sharing, “We were motivated to win this competition while we were at Espresso House. We were brainstorming together and had fun coming up with ideas.” Their poster, along with other winning entries, highlights the importance of embracing differences. “We care about differences. We are all different, we look different, but we click,” they added.

The winning posters included “Bullying Has No Place Here,” featuring students united against bullying, “Bullying is Pointless,” using a broken pencil as a clever metaphor, and “Equal Rights for All, Special Privileges for None,” an artistic representation of diversity. The impact of these activities was clear, as a Year 4 student reflected, “These activities teach people that when you say something hurtful, even if you apologize, it still hurts.” Another student summed it up perfectly: “This bullying poster competition raises awareness and shows that it is cool to be different.” These posters now serve as a lasting reminder that kindness and respect should always come first in our school community.
