IES Jönköping Visits Upptech for Technology Day with Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet

Our Year 8 students traded their desks for gears and coding as Technology Day took place at Upptech. Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet organized the event, where students explored the world of technology through hands-on practice - a day filled with both inspiration and valuable insights for their future academic choices.

The day aimed to showcase the breadth and excitement of technology as a subject. By moving the classroom to the inspiring environment at Upptech, students were given the opportunity to transition from theory to hands-on practice.

During the visit, students were challenged to:

  • Build models with gears, providing them with a direct understanding of power transmission and the fundamentals of mechanics.

  • Practice writing code and see the results in real-time—a skill that is becoming increasingly vital in today’s digital society.

Inspiration for the Future

Technology Day also serves as an important piece of the puzzle for the students' upcoming high school choices, offering a valuable insight into what technology-oriented studies can involve. By testing elements included in technical education programs, we hope to spark curiosity and inspire students to pursue a future in technology and science.

"Technology day is a great opportunity for students to see how the world really works. It gives them an opportunity to see concepts from the class in real life. The students were exposed to advanced robotics which gave them an insight into the possibilities that technology can offer."

Damian Carlisle, Teacher, Senior Sciences

We at IES Jönköping would like to extend a big thank you to Upptech and Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet for a fantastic day. We look forward to seeing how our students apply these new insights to their schoolwork!
