IESJ Primary Welcomes Families to Annual Autumn Afternoon Tea

Students and guardians gathered for the annual autumn Afternoon Tea at IESJ, showcasing student projects, live music, and local community partnerships.

IESJ Primary held its annual autumn Afternoon Tea for Year F–3. Every year, guardians and families are invited to celebrate student learning and view projects completed since the start of the term.

Students from across the year groups presented work from various subjects:

  • Förskoleklass: Focused on traffic safety by creating reflective figures and taking a traffic walk to identify road signs and vehicles. In collaboration with the Starlight after-school care program (fritids), students designed houses from milk cartons, created road signs, and created individual cars to form a miniature city exhibition.

  • Year 1: Displayed their "Djurens ABC" project. Students practiced sentence writing and focused on a weekly letter paired with an animal (e.g. "S" for seal) to strengthen phonological awareness, linking sounds to symbols to support reading and writing development.

  • Year 2: Created autumn wreaths and written poetry, expressing their creativity through seasonal artwork.

  • Year 3: Explored local history by writing stories about Jätten Vist and researching historical sites including Visingsö, the Town Hall, Hovrätten, Jönköping Castle, and the Matchstick Museum.

The event featured dynamic activities and student performances:

  • Skyfall Creations: The Skyfall Junior fritids group, alongside Ms Fri, presented handcrafted items including bracelets, keychains, paper flowers, bookmarks, and ceramic ornaments.

  • Book Exchange & Activities: A book swap was held under #readwithIES, while the Senior Student Council organized physical activities under #movewithIES.

  • Musical Performances: Year 2 performed songs led by Ms Danielsson, and Year 1 Sunshine fritids performed led by Ms Al-Husseini and music teacher Mr Alp.

Special thanks go to Jönköpings kommun for providing information about their contact centre, and to Taekwondo Jönköping for introducing their sport and offering try-out sessions.

All refreshments were contributed by guardians, with sales proceeds donated to Barncancerfonden. Thank you to all students, families, and staff who made the afternoon a success.
