Former students Leo and Amir back at IES Jönköping to share their experiences of transitioning to gymnasiet.
The transition from year nine to higher education is a significant milestone. For alumni Amir and Leo, who now study the economics and social science programmes at Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet, the academic preparation they received at IES Jönköping (IESJ) has been vital.
"IESJ has prepared us well in all subjects" the pair noted, specifically highlighting that the mathematics department provided a strong head start for their current studies.
Beyond the academic results, the school's unique atmosphere and the care from the staff left a lasting impression. "The teachers are fantastic," the pair shared. "They truly care, and we miss how they pushed us to a capacity we didn't even know we had. My teacher never gave up hope on me." This sense of being seen and challenged is at the core of the IESJ experience, ensuring every student reaches their full potential.
A recurring theme during the evening was the appreciation for the daily life at the school, including the meals. The alumni spoke warmly about the school lunch, noting that they truly miss the food and could feel that it was "cooked with heart." These moments of community, from sharing a meal to decorating together for the 'Year Nine Prom' or bonding during the camping trip, created a strong sense of belonging that the students carry with them long after graduation.
Amir and Leo concluded with a message to current and prospective guardians, encouraging them to choose IES Jönköping. They described it as a place that truly takes care of its students, where the environment is dedicated to pushing and helping every child succeed.
