Admissions

Questions about how to apply, what happens next, and how we conduct our intake

The application window is open all year round, and you can apply to multiple schools at the same time. We admit students on an ongoing basis throughout the year, subject to availability. To apply, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Apply here".

  2. Select the school you wish to apply to (each school has its own queue). You can place your child in the queue from February 1st the year after they were born.

  3. Once you click "Apply here", you will be redirected to SchoolSoft’s queue system. Log in using BankID and fill in your personal details.

  4. If you do not have a Swedish BankID, you can instead complete the application form available here.

No, we do not use entrance exams or selection tests for admission to our schools. Places are allocated entirely based on queue time, meaning that the applicant who has been in the queue the longest will be offered a place first.

Yes, you can join the queue regardless of where you currently reside. Please note, however, that we can only offer school places to students who are registered residents in Sweden (folkbokförda). If your child does not have a Swedish personal identity number but you are planning to move here, please contact the relevant school directly, and they will assist you further with the application process.

You can place your child in the queue from February 1st the year after they were born at the earliest.

Please contact the school’s admissions team for more information regarding opportunities to visit the school. Further details about open house days can also be found on each school’s website.

Before the admissions process begins, the school will send out an email to notify you that the process is underway. If you are offered a place, you must respond within the specified deadline. If no response is received, the place will be offered to the next person in the queue.

You are welcome to contact a specific school you applied to for information regarding your current queue position.

Each school has their own queue, and it is unfortunately not possible to transfer a queue position or accumulated queue time between schools. However, you are more than welcome to be in the queue for multiple schools simultaneously. You can easily add another school by logging into your SchoolSoft profile.

You can log into the queue system using your BankID at any time to update and save your details. Within the system, you also have the option to defer your requested start date. If you do not have access to BankID, please contact the school directly, and they will assist you.

No, if you decline an offer, you will forfeit your place in the queue, and the offer will immediately pass to the next applicant. If you change your mind at a later date, you are welcome to submit a completely new application.

Each school maintains its own separate queue. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis, as we believe this is the fairest approach. Sibling priority applies when a sibling currently attends, or has been accepted into, an IES school at the time when the next sibling is due to start. You can easily add the sibling’s Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) to your profile. Please note that being in the queue for, or having a place at, one IES school does not grant you priority at our other schools.

Admission Process IESJ

Admission process for the next academic school year starts every year in November.
In the beginning of November, the school invites to an information evening by email.
At the same time a SMS is sent out about this email.
This invite goes out to children first in line for the current academic school year and to more children than the spots we have to offer.
At the end of November, after the info eve, the admission package is sent out by email.
At the same time a SMS is sent out about this email.
OBS! Every one of this email has an “answer by the lates” date. If the school has not got an respond from you we assume that you are not interest and your child will be removed from the queue.
After the deadline for responses the school complies with the received responses and makes a new offer by email if necessary.
This process continues until all places are filled.

Important! It is the guardian’s responsibility to keep their contacts in the queue updated.

During the spring the school arranges an Introduction day for all students who have accepted a spot and are registered as admitted to the school for next academic school year. This half day is on a Saturday in April. During the day the students do three activities in three different subjects and get the opportunity to see how it is to be a student at the Internationella Engelska Skolan. They also have the opportunity to be in the bilingual environment, meet mentors and future classmates.
