Senior School Students Represent IES Hässelby with Pride at Förbifartspremiären
On Friday, October 2, 2026, students from IES Hässelby joined thousands of peers from across the region for a once-in-a-lifetime experience: running through the newly built tunnels of E4 Förbifart Stockholm before its official opening. Accompanied by teachers Ms. McGouran and Mr. Khalil, our Senior School students showed incredible enthusiasm, determination, and community spirit.
A Historic Run Underground
The special event, titled Förbifartspremiären – Skoldagen, was organized by Marathongruppen in collaboration with Trafikverket. Designed as a free activity day for school students in grades 4–9 across Stockholm, Järfälla, and Sollentuna, the event brought together approximately 5,000 young participants to celebrate fitness and local infrastructure.
Our Senior School students were given exclusive "first-access" privileges to explore the un-opened section connecting Hjulsta and Häggvik. The approximately 4-kilometer route led participants right through the newly constructed highway tunnels. Beyond promoting physical health and the joy of movement, the day aimed to give students a firsthand look at a landmark engineering project and inspire interest in civil engineering and infrastructure careers.
Pride and Fantastic Results
Accompanying the group, Ms. McGouran praised the students' effort and attitude throughout the event.
"The Senior School did an awesome job running today and really enjoyed the experience! They represented our school well and some were the fastest finishers of our start group!" — Ms. McGouran
Whether pushing their personal limits or cheering on their peers, our students embodied the values and pride of IES Hässelby every step of the way.
Congratulations to all of our participating students and a big thank you to Ms. McGouran and Mr. Khalil for guiding and supporting our team during this memorable day!
