The IES quality report for 2022/2023 is out now

Students at IES continue to perform better than the national average in the core subjects; mathematics, Swedish, Swedish as a second language, and English. The share of students who qualify for upper secondary school is also higher than the national average. You can read about all this and more in the quality report for 2022/2023, available now.

For three decades IES has run schools using our ethos: which stresses the importance of commanding the English language, high academic expectations and aspirations and a peaceful and calm school environment, where students can focus on their learning. The goal of IES is to give every student the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background.

The quality report for the school year 2022/2023, launched today, documents the success of that work. IES students still perform better than the national average in the core subjects; Swedish, Swedish as a second language, mathematics, and English. The share of students reaching top grades (C or higher) is also significantly higher than the national average. 94 percent of IES students qualify for upper secondary school, compared to the national average of 85 percent.

Securing grade integrity is an important part of the quality work within IES. We follow up every discrepancy between results on the national tests and final grades, and between the IES average and the average in the municipality, investigating to make sure that the teachers are grading in a correct way.

Once again there was a closer correlation than the national average when comparing the national test results for year nine students 2022/2023 and the students’ final grades in Swedish, Swedish as a second language, mathematics, and English. Furthermore the correlation had increased since the previous year.

For several years IES has expanded in the lower years, offering students a place from preschool year in an increasing number of our schools. Students who attend an IES school throughout their compulsory school years can benefit from our international atmosphere, with respect for knowledge, the school, their fellow students and themselves. As they grow they will also receive an increasingly bilingual education, which will make it easier for them to command English at a high level later on. Many parents have asked IES to provide younger years including preschool class, and we are now happy to be able to offer that in more and more of our schools.

Today IES operates 45 compulsory schools from Trelleborg in the south of Sweden to Skellefteå in the north, and one upper secondary school, on Södermalm in Stockholm. We can see a great demand for schools with our international profile and our focus on peace and calm, among families all over Sweden.
