Scary Stories Unit: A Chilling Podcast Special!

This term, Year 7 students dived into the thrilling world of scary stories, using the unit to develop their reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills in creative and engaging ways. They explored a wide variety of eerie texts, from classic ghost tales to modern spooky stories, and produced detailed summaries to deepen their understanding of the genre’s key features, such as suspense, atmosphere, and plot twists.

To bring their learning to life, students then wrote their own frightening tales, carefully crafting characters, settings, and spine-chilling moments. The unit culminated in an exciting podcast project, where each student recorded their ghost-story podcast, showcasing not only their storytelling abilities but also their confidence and creativity in speaking. It was a fun and immersive way to combine language skills with imaginative expression, leaving everyone a little more appreciative of the art of a good scare!
